Interview with Livio: Kinder International School towards the Future

Today we meet Livio, School Manager of the Kinder International School Bologna, to find out what inspired him to follow his career, the experiences that touched him deeply and his vision for the future of education in a school like ours. Livio is known for his passion for travel, and his answers provide a fascinating glimpse into his career path.

Inspiration for a career in education

Livio shared how his passion for education has been shaped by different influences over the years. Since he was a child, he admired teachers like Dolores, Kika and Antonella who knew how to inspire and guide the students of Kinder School. His desire to contribute to educational progress was further fueled by his travel experiences and observation of educational systems in many countries around the world.

A significant moment in Livio’s journey

A crucial stage in his career was seeing the positive impact of a good education system on society during his travels. He also mentioned the meeting with Ann Veneman, Director General of UNICEF at the time, who, visiting the premises of the Kinder International School in Bologna, defined them as “jewels of education”. This moment solidified his belief in the importance of quality education.

The most rewarding part of working in an international school

For Livio, the most rewarding part of his job is when former students return to visit the school and talk about how the years spent with them changed their lives. These testimonies demonstrate the lasting impact of the education provided by the school.

The dream for the future of the school

If he could realize a dream for the school, Livio would like to see it continue to develop as he has done over the last sixty years, becoming increasingly important for the growth of students. He wants the school to continue to support students in realizing their dreams and preparing them to face the challenges of an evolving society.

Livio’s message for the school community

Livio’s commitment for the future is to continue studying other school systems to understand how to apply new learning systems, without forgetting the ones we have been experimenting with for decades.

Finally, Livio wants the school community to remember his contribution, which includes the introduction of new elements such as the study of chess, the Chinese language and the digitalization of classes. He wants to be remembered for introducing the study of robotics and programming from an early age and for his dedication to preparing students to overcome future challenges.
